Customer in an Uber + Why flashcards are the best tool for a child's learning 👦🏽

flashcards in 30s or less for your child on any topic

I was riding in an Uber for a haircut this morning and had a great convo with my driver. He mentioned he lived in Mississauga and had just dropped his four-year-old daughter off at school. Intrigued, I told him about the app (sales 101?), curious to see his reaction as a parent. His feedback was insightful. He liked the app and the simplicity of entering a single line of text or even a word to generate flashcards on a specific topic but suggested adding pictures would make it even better. Funny enough, we're already on track to introducing AI-generated images for flashcards in January!

But during this conversation, I wanted to express why we chose flashcards as the number one tool for learning things effectively. Flashcards have stood the test of time in education, and for good reason. They are simple, versatile, and highly effective for memory retention. Here’s why:

  1. Active Recall: Flashcards encourage your child to remember a concept from scratch rather than from a list of options, strengthening memory and understanding.

  2. Confidence Building: They provide immediate feedback, helping kids understand what they know and need to learn, boosting confidence in their knowledge.

  3. Sensory Engagement: The visual aspect of flashcards helps better retention, especially for visual learners; remembering cues of text creates a stronger active learning focus.
